Expressions and words
No matter how many languages and words we master but the throughput to express oneself can not be 100%. There is a limit to the extent of our expressions and beyond that we all are helpless. Languages and words may just extend that limit..But it can not make us capable of expressing ourselves 100%.
However, there are other ways to reflect our feelings and to do that we do not have to open our mouth. For some people their eyes enable them to express their feelings. For some their reactions and over-reactions, touches, and their silence and in-activeness are there to help. It also depends on the relationship you sustain. For example my mom goes mute when she goes mad at my activities and it immediately convey her message to me. And my father's over-reactions suggest me the state of happiness he is in. In case of friends, it's their hands around my neck in times of trouble which shows me their support without them saying a single word. I also remember one of my managers when it comes to expressions without words. His restless movements on floor were too strong to convey his message to his team. Again more than words he used his body language to express his feelings.
Surprisingly even these soft expressions of feelings have their limitations. These need the tangible/physical presence of concerned people right in front of you otherwise the expressions become ineffective immediately. If the person to be communicated is not present physically then chances of miscommunication arise immensely.
Apart from speakers' ability to communicate effectively, it is receiver's ability to grab the feelings also matters. For a successful communication, just a good listener and an effective orator are not enough but it also depends on the interest in subject from both parties which can make up for the rest other things. Otherwise, communication becomes bizarre and chances are that it may fall apart. If you would have noticed then effective orator or dialogue speaker uses his body movements to express himself. So, mixture of your words and physical expressions makes your communication far more effective.
Lately I came across an incidence where I never saw the receiver any time and were supposed to convey certain messages/feelings. Interestingly we were supposed to talk in my mother tongue. I did succeed to express myself sometimes but could not make most of the points effectively. The reason being that geographical constraint did not make it possible for a face-to-face meeting (neither live meeting was possible) so I had to reply on my words (verbal and written) alone. I struggled to death before finishing that. And this did force me to think about the effectiveness of ones' communication without feeling someone's physical presence and showing your own gestures while speaking. This definitely jeopardised the skill I trust most.
You see..I wrote hundreds of words but possibly you might have picked nothing..Doesn't it prove my point in itself :D
